[ It is rare that in his free time he does not seek her out. He knows well enough that his behaviour on the beach was... questionable, but he would do the same again, in the same circumstances.

The sight of the little box on the bed is a surprise, but he knows immediately it is from her.

He isn't much used to gifts. They are something to bestow on family, on very close friends, and he can't say in truth he has ever had much of either.

But this touches his heart, his thumb tracing the sail of the tiny ship. ]
